After years of ocean fishing operations, the Taiwanese fleet has accumulated rich experience in fish detection, fish collection methods, and fishing techniques.

According to the captain's experience, saury has a very sensitive phototaxis, has a good phototaxis response to red, green and blue light, and is especially sensitive to red light. In addition, red light can better stabilize the fish school, so that the circling saury calms down and detours under the red light.

The fishing operations of saury with lifting nets mainly include the steps of fish detection, fish trapping, release of the net, lure fish to release of the net (guide fish), and lifting of the net to draw fish.

The captain uses a school of fish detector or sonar to detect the school of fish. Once a school of fish is found, the captain immediately sets off and rushes to the gathering place of the school of fish.
